This month I finally found a couple things that weren’t satisfactory with this subscription, though I’ll admit one of those things is 100% not the fault of A Beautiful Mess.
The first thing that sort of annoyed me was how late my subscription arrived. The first packages start arriving around the 12th of the month — which I know because people start posting the content of this month’s subscription on Instagram. Spoilers much? My package didn’t arrive until April 22, much later than others. Normally I wouldn’t mind, but SPOILERS! I love surprises and I wish I would have been able to avoid the spoilers a bit more this month.
The second thing — totally not ABM’s fault either — was that when I finally DID receive my package, the mail carrier practically folded the envelope in half to shove it into my mailbox! When I received the February package, it was left outside my door, and both March and April ended up in my mailbox. April’s package was delivered by UPS, not USPS, and the extent of the folding was pretty severe – this month’s print and one of the cards was damaged, which was kind of disappointing.
Aside from the items that were damaged, everything else was fine, and I was pretty pleased with the quality of this month’s items.
Print with glitter lettering
Days of the Week notepad
Washi tape samples
1 postcard
5 folded cards with envelopes
3 flat cards with envelopes
The rest of the review is after the jump!
The print this month was a little odd. It was in a smaller size — I’m not sure if that was related to the glitter foil or if it was just randomly — and just in terms of aesthetics, it just wasn’t quite my style.
A more pleasant surprise: this month’s Happy Mail was full of folded cards! Generally, I like folded cards a lot more, partly because they’ve got more space to write notes to my loved ones.
In this picture, you can see three of the folded cards (and a tiny corner of a fourth). Two were birthday cards! I’ll definitely need one in the upcoming month, so I was happy to see them. An additional two cards were “thinking of you,” with another that was “Get Well Soon.” Much more occasional than usual.
The card designs overall were really cute, although they were really… glittery. Really, really glittery. I’m not a glitter sort of woman. But the people who’ll be receiving these cards? They’ll like them just fine.
This month’s “extras” were a sheet of washi tape samples and a little notepad with the days of the week on it. I haven’t used washi tape before, so I thought it was a good chance to experiment a bit. (Comment away if you have any suggestions!) I was also happy about the days of the week notepad, which is pictured above. I thought it was really cute, and I can already think of some adorable ideas for using it.
Overall, I felt like a lot of cards this month are ones I’ll be storing away for a bit before I move in June, partly because I’ll need some time to find occasions. (There were more occasion cards than usual.) I liked the “extras” in this month’s Happy Mail way more than last month’s, which made it way more worthwhile even though I wasn’t very fond of this month’s print.
What did you think of this month’s Happy Mail?
