Comment Policy

Due to the inordinate number of spam comments I’ve been receiving of late, I thought I’d just set down a few guidelines regarding my comment policy.  If you adhere to this policy, you’re likely to be put on the “Awaiting Approval” list rather than the “Spam” list, and starting now I will be consistently emptying spam comments without looking.

First off, please use some type of account or identification to tie your comments together.  I have anonymous comments, but you do have to at least use your e-mail – don’t worry, I’m the only one who can see it – and I prefer you leave a link to a blog or website.  I like to visit back and comment on posts I like, and I frequently re-post or re-Tweet interesting links and blogs on my Twitter account.

Second, it’s better to use a name instead of a handle when you comment.  It’s nicer when I see “Becky” or “Jake M.” in the comments section rather than “gardener7234” or “33roses” because, quite frankly, the latter commenters are usually spammers, and I don’t like spammers.  You don’t even need to use your full name: just a first or last name is good.

If you comment multiple times, I’m more likely to visit you.  I mean, that’s generally true, but faithful commenters create better conversations!  As I mentioned above, I like visiting back, so if you like comments, comment on me!

I know this post is a bit short, but I just wanted to let you know about the new policy.  I’ll change some pages also to reflect that.
