Book Mail for the week ending January 14, 2017

Surprise! I did end up with book mail again this week.

Yen Press is one of my favorite manga publishers and has licensed many of my favorite series, which include Soul Eater, the Madoka*Magica franchise, and Love at Fourteen. This week was the arrival of several titles I’d requested for the month of January.

Murcielago, Vol. 1 is the first installment of a mass murderer who gets hired as a police hitwoman. The premise was pretty intriguing, and the cover copy makes it sound as if there’ll be a yuri element in the story as well, which is always fun!

Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun, Vol. 5 is a continuation of the reviews I’ve done for others in the franchise. The most recent volume marked a departure from the plot points covered in the anime, so I’m excited to keep reading and see where things go from here.

Tohyo Game, Vol. 2 is the midpoint of the series. I’d mentioned in my review of the first volume that I wasn’t sure how the pacing and action could be maintained throughout the series, so I suppose I’m about to find out.

Reindeer Boy is an English original! This one I’d been hoping to receive for a December review, but as it happens… I’m looking forward to this one. It looks as if it’ll have a group of reindeer-teens named after (?) Santa’s reindeer. How could it not be a ton of fun?

I’m hoping to have reviews of these up at Girls in Capes pretty soon, although Reindeer Boy may end up held over until next holiday season. (Unless Murcielago isn’t as good as I’m hoping it will be, in which case I can’t post a review.)

Are there any of these titles up your alley?

You can check out my progress on this year’s 100 Books Challenge and let me know what books you’ve read so far. I can’t wait to hear about what you’re reading!
