January was a bit of a rough start for me. Typically, I do pretty well in the first month of the year before classes start, but this year, much of my time was sucked up by the different activities I’ve been working on, as well as my capstone project in preparation for graduation.
I did manage to finish three books! Though I do have a number of other books started, and I’m nearly finished reading the wonderful A Crown for Cold Silver.
The Walled City by Ryan Graudin. This was a book I reviewed for Girls in Capes, and you can find my review here. A young adult action-adventure. 5 out of 5 stars
Asura Girl by Otaro Maijo. An award-winning Japanese novel I reviewed for Girls in Capes. Review is here. A literary adult contemporary (though set in 2003.) 3 out of 5 stars
Red Rising by Pierce Brown. Girls in Capes January Book Club title. A NYT-bestselling science fiction dystopia. I would not recommend this book to anyone. 1 out of 5 stars
What books did you read in January? What would you recommend most highly?
